He began as a painter working in Europe and studying under Fernand Leger, but then came back to the US where he continued his oeuvre with photography in New York. He aimed to personally intervene in the images. Klein became a renowned and revolutionary photographer, best known for his garish and controversial photos; grainy, high-contrast and always via wide-angle lens.
