Zsolnay Art Nouveau Vase(998 views)
Description: Item # 258. A Zsolnay vase of exceptional glaze and décor. Metallic blue and silver Eosin glaze with very faint copper / lilac eosin hues over a form of lilies and leaves. Hand etched form # 5424 ( as opposed to an incised form number which made indicate a prototype design) and printed Zsolnay Factory mark. Circa 1899. The clay body is very heavy. 10.5" tall. Hand drawn circular factory mark. Excellent condition; no restoration. Minor stress lines on the underside. This vase weighs 10 lbs. We have seen this form in various glaze variations. This is the only know glaze configuration that we are aware of. Pictured on page 77 of “Zsolnay Ceramics - Collecting a Culture.”
