Description: Iron helmet bowl formed of 76 flat suji plates with gilt interior. The individual plates studded at the edges with numerous, cone-shaped hoshi (rivets) which decrease in size toward the tehen. Exceptionally well preserved russet iron surface, lateral holders for the wakidate. Inscribed "Saotome Iyehisa". (Due to the spelling of the kanji "Sa" the bowl can clearly be attributed to the mid Edo period). Three-stage iron tehen kanamono, the lower ring in kiku sukashi, the upper ring with karakusa decoration in gold nunome. Agemaki-no-kan with slightly faded orange agemaki. Engraved mabezashi with invocations to different deities "Amaterasu Kami", "Kazusa Daimyochin" and "Sumiyoshi Dai Myochin". A row of shikoro preserved, on it fukigaeshi with applied silver mon of the Tatsuma clan from the Harima province. Mabezashi and fukigaeshi with elaborate shakudo fukurin. Leather of the shikoro row replaced. Height 18 cm, width 28 cm. Exceptionally accurately crafted, elegantly shaped helmet.

Description: Iron helmet bowl formed of 28 flat suji plates with russet iron surface, the individual plates studded with sturdy, blunt hoshi (rivets) which decrease in size toward the tehen, inscribed "Myochin Sakon Kii Munetake Saku". Four-stage, part-gilt tehen kanamono and agemaki-no-kan with slightly faded red agemaki. Leather covered mabezashi, three-lame, black lacquered ko manju shikoro of iron with blue sugake lacing. The fukigaeshi, also covered in leather, with wa mon. Original lining. Associated, finely worked iron mempo of Resseiho type, with impressive moustache of white yak hair. Three-lame yodare kake in the same lacing as the shikoro, the bottom inscribed "Kii Munetaka Saku Myochin Sakon". Height 24 cm, width 42 cm. Description: Iron bowl formed of 24 flat suji plates, studded with robust, blunt hoshi (rivets) which decrease in size towards the tehen. Russet iron surface. Uninscribed. Four-stage iron tehen kanamono and agemai-no-kan. Forehead and back of the head coated with one smooth iron plate, held by two and three shinodare, respectively. Mabezashi, forehead plate and tehen kanamono decorated with clouds and dragon in sawari nunome. Five-lame ko manju shikoro of black lacquered iron with blue kebiki lacing. On the fukigaeshi a kikko mon of the Saai clan. Slightly damaged, original helmet lining with modern leather reinforcement. Height 24 cm, width 40 cm.

Description: Light, iron helmet bowl forged in one piece, featuring a riveted, wide edge with multiple perforations. Iron riveted tehen kanamono.
