The vehicle has been restored. Click here for vehicle evaluation! On August 26, 1959, the British Motor Corporation (BMC) unveiled its revolutionary model. In the context of the Suez crisis, the group wanted a car with low fuel consumption, small size and large space. As early as 1962, only three years after its launch, the MINI exceeded the annual production output of 200,000 vehicles. The design, conceived by MINI inventor Alec Issigonis in the mid-50s, was simple and revolutionary. He turned the motor by 180 degrees, fitted it across instead of lengthwise and let it power the front instead of the rear wheels. Thus an extremely short, relatively spacious and very affordable four-seater was possible. The Queen driving through Hyde Park with Issigonis at the wheel of a MINI went a long way to present the cheap small car in the proper light. The efforts of John Cooper successfully helped the MINI to gain reputation as a rally car. The MINI celebrated a veritable triumphal procession through different rally events and nearly scored a hat-trick in the years 1964 to 1966 at the Monte Carlo Rally, had it not been denied its victory in the last year due to illicit halogen auxiliary headlights. As production in ceased 2000, circa 5.4 million MINIs had been produced. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance. Lola T310, Racing Car, Model Year 1972

Estimate: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: T310Lola, model year 1972Two-seater-sports-car Monocoque chassisFirst registration: n.s.Vehicle identification number: number 2 (of 2) Engine number: n.s.595 kW, 8,3 liter Chevrolet V-8 engine (Big Block) with 810 HPWeight: 780 kgMileage displayed: n.s.Body colour: WhiteInterieur: BlackNr. 2 of 2 cars built2 nd overall in its first real race Hockenheim 2015 Invited to Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2008, 2012 and 2016Special conditions: 17,95 % buyer's premium including VAT.Preview, collection and storage conditions: see auction announcements This racing car is number 2 of only two ever build cars of that type. It was built up by the famous McLaren mechanic Lee Mui.After watching McLaren dominate the Can-Am series for four years, in 1971, Lola and its American team leader Carl Haas seemed to have it all: a World Champion driver in Jackie Stewart, huge sponsor dollars from L&M cigarettes and a brand new machine, the T260. But the results were disappointing, and the season ended with Haas’ team in search of both a new driver and new sponsorship to back its 1972 entry, the Lola T310.Frustrated by the T260’s boxy aerodynamics Lola designed what would be one of the longest, widest, lowest cars ever to compete in the Can-Am series. The T310’s slippery lowprofile shape was partly the result of information gleaned by Haas mechanic Ike Smith from Porsche driver Jo Siffert in a casual conversation about Stuttgart’s aero findings. It is no surprise then that the T310’s scoop-like nose is almost identical to that of its Porsche contemporary, the 917/10K. Indeed, the basic design proved so effective that it is still in wide use today in sports and prototype racing cars. Unfortunately, like the rest of the competition from 1972 to the Can-Am’s demise in 1974, the T310 proved to be no match for the turbocharged Panzers from Stuttgart. Driver David Hobbs struggled mightily with the car after it missed the first round of the 1972 season. Despite all that was working against them, Haas, Hobbs and crew finished the series admirably in seventh place. The Lola T310 is one of the fastest, most outlandish machines ever created for the world’s most innovative racing series. It is eligible for a wide range of motorsports events around the world and a highly competitive contender in any vintage Can-Am racing event series.  Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance. The vehicle was build up faithfully by a CSL specialist on the basis of a rust free body and is in an overall good condition. It was restored with originality in mind. Overall there were only 429 of these 3-liter direct injection left-hand drive exemplars produced. This is a very good investment with a high potential to increase in value. The sport-coupé of the 1970s was one of the most elegant vehicles of its time and the first model of the later „BMW-Motorsport GmbH“, so it can be called the first „M“-BMW. The name CSL (coupé sport lightweight) was used due to the economization in weight: hood, roof, trunklid and doors were made of aluminium. The empty weight was only 1165 kg and the vehicle could accelerate to 100 km/h in only 7.4 seconds. (kre) Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance. As a supercar of the Italian sportscar manufacturer Ferrari, the design of the F40 was personally driven by Enzo Ferrari in 1986 for the 40th year anniversary of the company and was then build from 1987 until 1992. Through the use of racing car technology, like body parts made from carbon fiber reinforced plastic, it was considered, for technology, as the newest state of the art. The F40 was until then the fastest and strongest Ferrari for road use and visually a special model and the last Ferrari that was developed under the direction of Enzo Ferrari. The F40 was sold back then exclusively to selected buyers for 444,000 DM (today about 380,000 Euros). These primarily include longstanding Ferrari customers and celebrities. Originally only 450 units were to be made. The first models are identified by the sliding side windows, the production was then changed to normal crank windows. Because of the unexpected high demand, in total 1315 vehicles were made, 900 in the first year. Two units were shipped out with a black paint finish, less than ten in yellow. One unit in white was sent to the Sultan of Brunei. None of these vehicles came on the market though, rather went directly after production to a place in the Ferrari Museum. From mid-1968 to 1973 exactly 103,463 Opel GT units were built at the Adam Opel AG in Rüsselsheim. The two GT 1100 and GT 1900 models followed the GT/J (Junior) between 1971-73, which could be offered much cheaper. The body was designed by Erhard Schnell already in 1964/65 – that means, the Opel GT was long before the Chevrolet Corvette C3 finished, which is quite similar to the Opel. Characteristically, the door cutouts stretch drastically onto the roof, also the folding headlights are operated manually by a lever inside the vehicle, the cooling air inlets under the front bumper and the steep tail without trunk door. The Opel GT is a two-seater without a trunk, with only an accessible flat luggage rack behind the seats. The upwardly extended backrest is designed to cover the luggage if it slipped forward. The vehicle belonged to the American politician Lester Garfield Maddox, Sr. (1915-2003), who used it as his representative vehicle. He was governer of Georgia between 1967 and 1971. Click here for vehicle evaluation! The Mercedes-Benz 600, internally titled W 100, was a sensation with its V-8 engine and the short and long body shape, as Mercedes had built a representative vehicle by prototype of 770 for the first time. The 600 was the state and representative vehicle from Daimler-Benz in the 1960’s and 1970’s, being ahead of all other manufacturers. For Mercedes, the 600 was more a matter of prestige rather than a profitable business, so that despite the high sales price, each shipped out 600 made a loss. The German government for example never bought one. The minister of finance at that time Franz-Josef Strauß commented, the vehicle was way too expensive – probably because BMW, originating from his home town Munich, couldn’t offer a comparable car. That is why the German government rents the 600 up until today, when a representative vehicle is needed. Many of the ca. 2,600 vehicles were custom made based on the wishes of its wealthy clients. Although, or perhaps because there are now hardly any spare parts available for the Mercedes 600, the price has risen sharply among collectors and enthusiasts in recent years. Its remarkably low mileage of just 63,500 kilometers in combination with the 1,500 ccm engine, quite large for its days, and the charming patina make this VW a desirable classic daily driver. Click here for vehicle evaluation! The official start of the VW utility vehicle “Type 29“, as the series was initially called, was on 8 March 1950. The first three vans rolled off the still makeshift belt at the Wolfsburg plant on that Wednesday. After the four pre-series vehicles had been presented in November, production accrued in January the following year. ‘Mit ihm fährt der Erfolg’ (Success is riding along with it) was the visionary slogan more than 60 years ago. Almost four hundred thousand air-cooled ‘vans for all trades’ with front-wheel drive left the factory (initially produced together with the VW Beetle in Wolfsburg and later in an own plant in Hanover) and embarked on a triumphal procession around the globe, laying the foundation for the legendary reputation of this extremely versatile delivery and travel vehicle with the odd nickname “Bulli“. As passenger vehicle the van came with seven or nine seats, the rear benches were removable, in order to provide cargo space. The rear seats could be removed. Up until 1983 it was available as coupé and targa, after which the convertible was also presented. The wheelbase grew to 227 cm in 1968 in the course of model care and it was combined with mudguard widenings and some detail changes. This is the vehicle identification number 19 from the series of which only ca. 30 units that may be considered original Cheetahs were built. The racing vehicle has a German street permit, all components are like new. It was entirely refurbished in the early 2000s and has never been used in a race. Click here for vehicle evaluation! In 1964 the American tuning expert Bill Thomas named his creation Cheetah after the big cat of prey. Thomas was active for Chevrolet, he developed, among others, the racing versions of the rear engine car Corvair. The Cheetah was supposed to be faster than Carrol Shelby's Cobra, indeed, the 5.3 liter Chevrolet engine with direct fuel injection and 385 hp offered an unbelievable performance – with a weight of just 750 kilogram and the long engine hood the car supposedly made around 360 km/h in Daytona. A characteristic feature is the front mid-ship engine that is directly connected to the rear axle, placing the two seats almost at the rear end of the race car, in combination with the independent wheel suspension it offers very good curve handling. Unfortunately, the garage of Bill Thomas was destroyed in a devastating fire in 1965, before 20 units of the Cobra competitor with the plastic body from the designer Don Edmunds had been completed. When Chevrolet even stopped the supply of its 327 eight-cylinder engines, because the sports regulations for the homologation as series GT increased the required amount from 100 to 1000 units, Bill Thomas abandoned the project, also because Chevrolet offered him to work on the advancement of the Chevy II. In 1996, however, Bob Auxier of BTM decided, with the permission from Bill Thomas, to build the Cheetah in a continuation series of another 46 units. Only those models built before the death of Bill Thomas in October 2009 are acknowledged as authorized. This Cheetah carries the chassis number 19 from the original series, however, the body with the A-pillar on the front screen was made at a later point. The few well-preserved Cheetahs are sought-after collectibles today. (kre) Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance. The car has German road approval and gets possibly the biggest amount of attention in this price class. Click here for vehicle evaluation! Due to its striking fender, the C3 is called the „coke-bottle-shape-Corvette“, because when observing it in side-profile, it looks similar to a reclined coca-cola bottle. The unmistakable design by Zora Arkos Duntoy was often copied by other carmakers. From 1969 until 1976 the lettering „Stingray“ appeared on the front fenders, as one word – in contrast to the C2, which wrote it as „Sting Ray“. The absolute high point for the hunt for the biggest engine displacement and the highest performance was reached in 1971. Until the discontinuation of production in October 1982, only the Coupé was available. To comply with the new provisions for impact protection to 5 mph, the Corvette received a front bumper made out of polyurethane in the model year 1973, the rear stayed as the conventional chrome bumper, which was however, in the following model years (only in 1974 divided in the middle) replaced with a PU-Bumper and all following models got a soft nose and tail. As an absolute novelty within this car series - since 1974 the Corvette at first was equipped with two removable roof panels, after which a crossbar remains, which was called either „T-Bar-Roof“ or „T-Top“. Even the vertical rear window could be removed by the models from the first five production years. It was kept as a stylistic feature until 1977. Until the last year of production in 1982 the Corvette was only available as coupé since 1978. Between 1969 and 1975 there were 33,081 models produced.
