Description: Pál Fried was a Hungarian artist. His oil paintings were usually of dancers, nudes, and portraits, and his subjects were almost always women, although he also painted Paris, seascapes, and cowboys and landscapes of the American West. He signed his paintings, as is usual in Hungarian, with his surname first as "Fried Pál". At times, this particular artist would make several, almost identical versions of the same oil painting, except he would use slightly different facial expressions and/or would try different colour schemes. Lived in LA and NYC and became US citizen.

The Village by Lucien Fritz Ohl

Ships From: Winter Park, FL US

Description: Oil on Canvas 24 x 30. Born in Sumatra, Indonesia, Lucien Frits Ohl was a self-taught artist. He produced paintings, watercolors, drawings and pastels and is recorded mainly for his decorative Indonesian landscapes. Ohl lived in Indonesia until 1954 and in Den Hague until his death. His artistic work shows the influence of the Dutch-Indonesian painter Gerard Pieter Adolfs (1898-1968), by some art critics also called ‘The Wizard of Light’. Based on Adolfs' works, Ohl’s paintings feature a sketchy and impasto brushwork that he mostly works with a brush or a spatula. The forms, composed of numerous areas of color, appear like impressions shaped by the light.

Thezac by Jean Claude Roy

Ships From: Winter Park, FL US

Description: Jean Claude Roy was born in Rochefort-sur-Mer on the west coast of France in 1948. He knew from the age of seven that he would be an artist, and was encouraged by his grandfather, a farmer of modest means who bought paintings at auctions. At the age of sixteen, Jean Claude attended merchant marine training and took his first job as an apprentice electrician on a cable-repair boat. There followed several years at sea, with much time spent in the port of St John?s, Newfoundland where his interest in art turned to landscape. In 1971 he emigrated to Newfoundland and for the next ten years worked as a marine electrician by day and an artist by night. He attended art classes for only two lessons and is essentially self-taught. By 1973 he was selling in local galleries and he had his first solo exhibition in 1974. There followed two exhibitions at the provincial art gallery and representation in galleries in other parts of Canada. In 1982 he returned to France to establish himself as an artist in his own country, while rebuilding the stone farmhouse in which he had grown up and cultivating his orchard. He maintained his ties with Newfoundland however, and since 1994 he has divided his time between the two countries. He describes his style as ?expressionist-colourist?, working most frequently in oils with a palette knife. Since the late 1980?s a characteristic of his landscapes has been the presence of the sun; after staring at the sun, a black spot in front of his eyes was transformed into the sun on his canvas; he found that this added light to the landscape below, and it has now become an important part of the composition of each work. Painting almost every day, and usually on-site, his works reflect the season, the weather, the stories that passers-by tell him, his mood and the ?feeling of the place?. Thus each painting is both a page in his diary and in that of the place he paints. In 2011, Breakwater Books published Fluctuat Nec Mergitur, the culmination of forty years of work and containing a painting of every community on the island. Jean Claude is currently working on a companion volume on Labrador, scheduled for publication in the fall of 2016. He is represented by galleries in Canada, the United States and France, and his works form part of many public and private collections.

Description: Andrew Manaylo is a ruthenian artist from Subcarpathia (Ukraine). Was born in 1970 in a painter dynasty family. His ascendants ? grandfather Fedor and father Ivan ? achieved significant place in the art life of the region. Andrew built not only upon an unique art school of his predecessors, but also on top-ranked professional artist-qualifying institutions such as the Russian Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. Andre is actively involved in numerous international art-symposiums. ?There is something deeply intense and critical in personal sensibilities and modalities of Andrew Manaylo?s artworks and expressions. His art somehow manages to muse and fuse the classical and the modern, the flat and the defined - it is personal biography meets movement, passion and a very physiological presence. Exhibiting an impeccable instinct for the emotionally evocative power of color, movement, texture, and shape, his creative work relates more to a state of mind, mood or feeling, than a tangible object. Amidst a sea of art, Andrew Manaylo manage to say something very different.? Nikita D. Lobanov a fellow in perpetuity of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York City), a member of the board of directors of the Foundation for International Arts and Education (Washington, DC), a regent of the Institute of Modern Russian Culture (Los Angeles, California), a consultant to Christie's auction house and (subsequently, from 1992 to 1997) a consultant to Sotheby's.

The movement in this piece offered by the dynamic strokes and palette knife work loosens the term "still life" Andrew Manaylo is a ruthenian artist from Subcarpathia (Ukraine). Rose Kissed Sunset by Robert Harper

Ships From: Winter Park, FL US

Description: Sublime colors draw you in to this romantic painting by Robert Harper. Underglazing creates a warmth that will enhance any room. Robert Harper was born in 1957 in Columbus, Montana. As a young boy, his time was divided between his home in Wyoming and his grandparent?s ranch in rural Montana. The rich and rugged landscapes of these two states provided Robert with a deep appreciation of nature and the beauty it affords. But it wasn?t until his teen years, when Robert saw a painting by the legendary Conrad Schwering, that he considered painting the landscapes that he was so familiar with. Schwering?s work birthed a desire in Robert to capture the beauty around him. Encouraged by a local art instructor and friend, Robert spent every spare moment of his high school and college years with a paintbrush in hand. Robert began his formal training at the University of Montana. Wanting more than the classroom could offer, Robert moved his studies outdoors. He set up his easel in hundreds of plein air locations in an effort to understand light, form and movement. Robert refers to these hands-on lessons as his ?school of nature?, and he loves the freshness and inspiration they bring to his work. Robert?s field studies have taken him throughout the western states, to Hawaii, Canada, Europe and Southeast Asia. Since beginning his career, Robert has had numerous one-man exhibitions in Montana, Wyoming and Colorado. He was a much sought- after instructor for painting workshops in a nine-state area for many years. Awards and honors Robert has received include several Best of Show and People?s Choice Awards. Publications include numerous newspaper articles as well as articles in Southwest Art (May 1996 and October 2001) and the cover of the Jackson Hole phone book (1994). Robert?s work hangs in galleries in Aspen, Steamboat Springs, Jackson Hole and Scottsdale, as well as in private collections throughout the world. Recently, one of Robert?s pieces from Amy Grant?s and Vince Gill?s personal collection was featured as the backdrop for the set of Amy Grant?s ?Time Again? concert and DVD. The video was honored in April of 2007 with the Dove Award for Long Form Music Video of the Year. Robert and his wife, Crystal, live in the colorful western slope of Colorado where they have raised their two daughters, Tawnya and Crysty. Robert boasts that these three women are his biggest fans and best critics. He still spends time painting outdoors, often taking his family with him to explore nature?s beauty. After all these years, Robert?s greatest work still reflects what he knows best: the rugged mountains of Wyoming and the pasturelands of Montana ? the quiet places of his boyhood home.
