Condition Report: Overall measurements: 165cm across the top, 168cm across the bottom, 243cm along the left side, 233cm along the right side. This rug has gentle muted colouring. Flexible handle. Soft lustrous wool, pile at highest 3mm down to knotheads with minor areas down to foundation visible in horizontal lines due to old folds. There are some scattered areas of re-piling, for example centre right of left hand border, visible as lighter shade of ivory, and other small areas in differing colours throughout. Some minor oxidisation to browns within the field and border. Top end with madder flatweave and original soumac knotting, lower end with flatweave warp fringing , not overlocked, some losses and cobbled repairs in sections. The lower end is of irregular shape, as visible from the photograph. Pile variable from dense 2mm pile down to knotheads, within the main field especially. There are scattered small holes and there are several sections of re-weave and re-piling, for example the largest the lower right corner of border approx. 8 by 6cm and others within the centre left border and lower right quadrant of main field, numerous small scattered areas of re-piling (noticeable on close inspection as a differing colour tone). There are repaired splits and small re-weaves especially along the lower edge and a particularly noticeable repaired area of weakness, centre top half of main field and other small areas above within the top right corner. Both ends with original flatweave, warp fringing and soumac overlocking. The lower end especially, with losses extending beyond the flatweave into the outer guard as visible in the photograph. A decorative work with character. Tekke - generally even dense 2mm overall, with minor areas down to knotheads within central field. There is a 8cm diagonal split loosely held within the centre, visible from the photograph. Both ends with original flatweave and warp fringing, some minor losses. Pile generally even 3 - 5mm overall, with occasional areas of lower pile with knotbars just visible. There are minor repaired fold wear splits, for an example see the middle of the lower end border. There is a well executed rectangular area of re-weaving in the eighth row of boteh down from the top approximately 6 by 10cm. The bottom right corner has been replaced and this section measures 10 by 5cm approx. There are two further replaced sections to the top border, one 'L' shaped measuring 10cm approx. at widest point and 7cm approx at deepest. the other measures 5 by 7cm approx. Sidecords re-overcast, minor losses to both ends now straightened and tidied. There are scattered localised areas of old moth.
