Engine and attached parts were revised and the underbody was sealed. The C6 gearbox was renewed and a special exhaust system was built in. The Ford Thunderbird, called T-Bird in short, is considered a classic of American automobile history, as it symbolizes the USA of the 1950s and 1960s like no other car does. Its name is one of the longest used trade names in automobile and industrial history – comparably only with the American icons Corvette and Mustang. Initially, the Thunderbird competed against the Corvette and had the advantage of a V8 engine. Over the years the Thunderbird series became more and more replaceable and the vehicle lost its reputation of being innovative in terms of technology and design. The style of the models from the production years 2002 to the end of 2005 was an homage to the original version and an attempt to recapture the the old models' character. They were a reminiscence of one of the most legendary cars ever. (ala) Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance. With a strong focus on originality, it was partly restored in the USA a couple of years ago. What is particularly impressive is the completeness of almost all add-on components – from fire hose to the small fire extinguishers with leather straps. Many of the pressure meters and filling level gauges still work properly. The truck is in running condition, however, in order to obtain a German registration, wear parts of steering, brakes, running gear and electrics should be checked and renewed where necessary. This rarity was built by the Luverne Fire Apparatus Company in Minnesota. It was made on basis of an International Harvester from the KB series. In 1949 the last vehicles of this model series were built. What is so characteristic of these firetrucks is the large chrome grill in the front part and an engine hood opening in “Alligator Style“. Another special feature are the headlamps that are integrated into the fenders. (kre) Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
