Frontis. portrait of Bannister in each volume, xix,399,xi,368pp.,marbled endpapers and edges, contemporary fine binding in scarlet calf, boards with gilt and blind borders, spine gilt with black title labels. An 1845 gift inscription leaf has been bound in after the front flyleaf of Vol.1. A 1cm circular silver paper label 'Ingalton/Eton' at the top corner of the front board of vol.1 could be the binder or bookseller. There is some insect damage to the front boards of both volumes (see photo) but still an attractive set, fine internally.
